Alauda vs Rocket: what each one asks, and when it asks for your phone number

What each one asks, when it asks for your phone number and email, how many lenders you see, and who follows up. Facts checked on November 5, 2026.

The short answer

Rocket Mortgage's retail channel does not currently offer HELOCs; it offers a Home Equity Loan.1,2 So this page compares Rocket's Home Equity Loan application with Alauda.

Rocket's online application asks about you and your home, then asks for your name, phone number and email.3 Alauda compares options in a conversation, and your contact details go to a lender only after you approve sending your application.

Facts checked on November 5, 2026. This page does not compare rates or fees.

Rocket's application, step by step

We followed "Start my application" from Rocket's Home Equity Loan page and stopped at the screen that asked for contact details. Nothing was entered on that screen.3

  1. Your goal.
  2. Your military status.
  3. Your credit profile, picked from a list of ranges.
  4. The property address.
  5. Your home's value.
  6. Your mortgage balance.
  7. The amount you want.
  8. Your first name, last name, phone number and email.

Rocket's application chat says it is AI-powered.3 Submitting Rocket's contact form gives Rocket Mortgage consent to call and text you for marketing, including automated calls, even if your number is on a do-not-call list.3

Alauda, step by step

  1. Comparing happens in a conversation. Alauda compares HELOCs, home equity loans, home equity investments and reverse mortgages side by side, including whether to wait.
  2. Credit. Alauda asks for a self-reported credit range. Alauda doesn't pull your credit report, so comparing options won't affect your credit score.
  3. Contact details go in a secure form on Alauda's own page. The AI model does not see your name, date of birth, phone number, email address or home address.
  4. Approving. Nothing goes to a lender until you say so. You see who receives it and what it contains before you approve. Only a HELOC is applied for.
  5. After you approve, a bank checks your credit: a soft check first, and a full credit report if you continue.

Who can contact you afterwards

Rocket. Submitting Rocket's contact form gives Rocket Mortgage consent to call and text you for marketing, including automated calls, even if your number is on a do-not-call list.3 Rocket's privacy policy allows sharing your information across the Rocket companies, with affiliates such as Redfin, and with partners for their own marketing.5

Alauda. We do not hand your number to a list of lenders. When you approve a HELOC application, the recipients are the licensed partner that files your application, the lender, and a service the lender uses to verify your debts. You can withdraw an approval before it is sent; what a lender already received stays with them.

Credit checks

  • Rocket asks you to pick a credit range before contact details.3 Rocket says a home equity loan may involve a hard credit inquiry.2
  • Alauda doesn't pull your credit report. A bank checks your credit only later, if you approve sending them your application: a soft check first, and a full credit report if you continue.

What Alauda is and isn't

Alauda is not a lender or mortgage broker. The lender makes every credit decision. Alauda is in early access: homeowners use it through an invitation link.
